Take out cash with your thumb, at the shop next door

AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) lets any customer with an Aadhaar-linked bank account withdraw cash, check balance or see a mini statement at a DuePe CSP - with a thumbprint instead of a card or PIN.

  • Cash withdrawal
  • Balance enquiry
  • Mini statement
What you get

Four services, one thumb

Pension on the 1st, in hand by 10 am. No bus, no queue, no form.

01

Cash withdrawal

Withdraw cash from any Aadhaar-linked bank account. The shopkeeper hands over the money on the spot.

02

Balance enquiry

Check how much is in the account before withdrawing - no bank visit, no passbook queue.

03

Mini statement

See the last few transactions - useful to confirm a salary, pension or scheme credit has arrived.

04

Aadhaar Pay

Pay the shopkeeper directly from the bank account with a thumbprint, without cash in hand.

How it works

Four steps, about two minutes

Choose service and bank

  1. 1

    Choose service and bank

The shopkeeper picks cash withdrawal, balance enquiry, mini statement or Aadhaar Pay, and the customer's bank.

  2. 2

    Enter Aadhaar and amount

The 12-digit Aadhaar number and the amount are entered with the customer's consent.

  3. 3

    Thumb on the device

A certified fingerprint device verifies the customer against Aadhaar. Nothing to remember, nothing to carry.

  4. 4

    Cash and receipt

The bank confirms, the shopkeeper hands over the cash, and a receipt with the transaction reference is issued.

For shopkeepers and partners

Why shopkeepers add AEPS first

Every withdrawal leaves a printed receipt. Every rupee has a reference.

Commission on every withdrawal

Each successful withdrawal, balance check and Aadhaar Pay earns a commission into the DuePe wallet the same day.

Simple to run

The DuePe app plus a supported fingerprint device is all a counter needs. Every transaction - success, pending, failed or reversed - carries a reference for support.

Footfall every day

Pensioners, farmers after a crop payment, families receiving money from the city - they come to the shop for cash and buy there too.

In the village

Cash where the bus does not go

Many villages DuePe serves are ten to twenty-five kilometres from the nearest branch or ATM. A withdrawal used to cost a bus fare, half a day and, often, a machine with no cash in it. With AEPS the money is at the same shop that sells rice and recharge.

Pension on the first of the month, crop-scheme instalments, wages sent from the city: whatever lands in an Aadhaar-linked account can be drawn at a DuePe CSP within walking distance, with a printed receipt the customer takes home.

Pension on the 1st, in hand by 10 am. No bus, no queue, no form.
One thumbprint. The bank is now the shop where you buy rice.

Common questions

Questions people ask at the counter

Talk to our team
Which banks work with AEPS?

Any bank account that is linked to the customer's Aadhaar and is live on the national AEPS network. The customer only needs to know which bank the account is in.

Is a card, PIN or OTP needed?

No. The customer's thumbprint, verified against Aadhaar, is the authentication. There is no card and nothing to type.

What if a transaction fails after the thumbprint?

Every attempt has a reference. If money is debited but not paid out, the amount is reversed by the bank as per AEPS rules, and DuePe support tracks it with that reference.

Can a customer check the balance without withdrawing?

Yes. Balance enquiry and mini statement are separate AEPS services: the customer gives a thumbprint and sees the balance or the last transactions without taking out cash.

Which fingerprint device does the shop need?

A certified biometric scanner, such as Mantra or Morpho, that works with the shop's Android phone. The distributor can supply one.

What does the shopkeeper earn on AEPS?

A commission on every successful cash withdrawal and Aadhaar Pay transaction, credited to the DuePe wallet the same day and shown in the app.
